In the latest **Behind the Portfolio**, I’ve made another change to my investment portfolio selling my position in Aviva and replacing it with AIB Group.

This wasn't simply a case of chasing a different dividend. It came down to the underlying numbers and what I want the portfolio to look like over the next few years.

## Why I Sold Aviva

Aviva has been a solid holding for me, but there were a few things beginning to concern me.

One of the biggest was the **payout ratio**. I want the companies in my portfolio to generate sustainable dividends, ideally with plenty of room to continue growing those payments over time.

When I ran Aviva through my Stock Screener, some of its overall scores were also considerably weaker than alternatives I’ve been looking at.

That doesn't necessarily make Aviva a bad investment. It simply means that, based on the metrics I care about, I think there are potentially better opportunities for my portfolio.
